I love silk. I love the way it floats, I love that some silk of a lower momme is slightly transparent and feels airy.
One thing I have dreamed about is seeing my own designs on fabric of beautiful quality, dyed in the exact shades I specify. I have had fun painting fabric dye on silk scarves. It is wonderful to wear.
A couple of years ago, I worked with a Chinese silk house to sample some of my designs on silk georgette (chiffon) and a beautiful habotai silk. The design I chose for the silk georgette was in warm blue/dark green shades of monstera leaves – I used the same design for the cover of my Sweet Life Of Gardening planner. The design I chose for the habotai silk scarf was my Lily Bouquet design. It has a cool grey-blue background which is the perfect colour to complement the beauty of my blue-eyed mother.
They are pictured above. I do not think the pictures do them justice. Maybe because silk needs to be touched to be appreciated. I like to make it move as if the piece of fabric has been subjected to a slight breeze on a hot day.
Now 2026 is here and I am having discussions again with the silk purveyor.
